zc or y8
those are my two choices right now, and yes i know b16 would be my best bet, but i cant afford that for a long while, and my parents have agreed to pay my insurance for 6 months so i can have time to do modifications, that way when im 18 and its time to move out i can worry about other things besides my car.
zc- about 130hp, 105lbs trq
y8- about 127hp, 105lbs trq
zc- DOHC nonVTEC
y8-SOHC VTEC
zc-older, probably have more miles, but cheaper, bolts in easily to all stock parts (tranny, axles, etc..)
y8-newer, less miles, more expensive but might need a few more mods (unsure?)
im really thinking about the zc, but i dunno. any info/input would be nice. plus, any help finding one of these would be nice. also does anyone know which is easier to find parts for?

zc's are much easier cuz if yours is an Si model, all you need is the motor. everything else just bolts straight up and they're pretty good motors, no matter how much people talk about those motors.
If it's between the Y8 and the AC, I'd get the Y8.
Reason being:
Y8 is a newer engine, USDM parts would be easier to obtain if something breaks. You could send your ECU to ZDyne and have them reprogram it for the Y8 and add the one wire for VTEC activation. You can re-use the Si axles and transmission for either the ZC or the Y8.
Either swap is pretty inexpensive, but could nickel and dime you if you need to get new hoses, axles, belts, etc. etc..
However, if there's no major ailments with your A6, why not just rebuild it and strengthen it up? That way, if you want to later add forced induction, you already have a strong base that will be able to handle the boost....

i cna ask my friend.
he's running an apexi turbo on a y8 for like.... 6 or 7 months now? daily drives it @ 9psi and can take 11psi...
completely stock y8.. its perky as a bitch. and their durable as hell =]
he USED to have a spare y8 head that was ported and polished, etc etc etc.. worked nice. ill ask him if he still has it or wants to sell it.
