would i be able to see gains with cams on a stock LS with just an intake or would i need a header and exhaust. only thing i have dont to exhaust is took out the resonator

Agreed, work on a LS/VTEC build rather than building an LS.
I've seen some nice powered LS motors but it's tough trying to get them there for a decent price.

 

Boost the LS,and build the head.You dont always have to go the vtec route to make good power.And theres a few high powered LS/B20 setups on this board that will vouch.

You can get a VTEC head swap done for $600 if your good at finding the deals and shit.

The least I've seen a B series FULL kit go for is around $1400.
Thats excluding Ebay stuff.

 

you wont see any real gains on cams without tuning. I definitely would not worry about vtec, push for boost! Its more worth your time and money if you mildly build the LS and put it on boost rather than worrying about VTEC. If you want vtec then find a vtec block and head. anytime you use conversions kits the reliability of the motor is diminished.
