The only reason they're coming back now is because they merged with NHRA. NHRA is going to run the racing venue and Nopi will still continue to run the car show and party aspect of it. Any points obtained from racing at Nopi events, held at non Nhra sanctioned tracks, will not count towards the overall season. It really doesn't seem good for the sport.

No they weren't, there was the NHRA Sport compact series which your refering to and the Nopi Drag series. They are now merged as one. That's why Nopi had taken the event away from VMP when they got their Nhra sanctioning. Nopi took our event and added the second stop to MIR instead.
