Rebuilding transmission...
My 4l60e is in need of a rebuild. When it heats up, it starts slipping and the transfer case clunks real nice when engaging in 4 low. BTW, it's in a 4wd '97 Suburban 1500.
Greg's transmission quoted around $1800...I need to check on warrenty.
Any other good places to go? Who's got the best deals and service?

Re: Rebuilding transmission...
Im sure me and James wouldnt have a problem. We've done many 4t65's and ive done 2 T350's and a Th-400. We get our parts from Transtar and his roommate is a tech at Perry Buick so info and parts can be found if needed. I know you are looking for a shop, but its an offer.
Never messed with transfer cases much, but it couldnt be harder than a transmission. Ill have to go take a look at gmtech.
$1800 for a normal rebuild isnt bad considering 4wd, and only if they include a new torque converter. Most places give something like a year or 10k miles warranty.

Re: Rebuilding transmission...
Hey, I appreciate the hell out of the offer, but I am mainly going with a shop since they will have the best turn around time and warrenty. I plan on doing some beach driving this year, and don't want it to drop out 8 miles in!! I can't even imagine that tow bill! Heck, if I had the time, I could probably buy a used tranny and rebuild it(and would definatly call you in for help!)... I just don't have the time.
Greg's said they will have it 2 days...in, out, done!
But seriously, thanks anyway!
