Default S13 Mudflaps/Splashguards...factory option?

So the other day I noticed that one of my S13's had mudflaps (splashguards whatever)...never noticed that before on a 240. I live in a rural area and work on a farm down a long dirt lane so I decided to put them on my daily 240 (nasty after all this recent wet weather...even though they lookin kinda goofy in my opinion. I was just wondering if anybody knows if this was a factory option or what...?

I'm assuming so...they must be made by Nissan as they are stamped.

Quick pic of the goofyness...I know the pic sucks.

Eh...I've just never seen them before. Maybe because they're so goofy looking everybody takes them off.

Use 3M film instead of the flaps to protect against rock chips if you don't like the look.
