Default Moving to Alexandria

I maybe moving to Fairfax in the next 4 weeks. Could someone suggest decent areas to move to WEST of the city. I have no desire to commute anywhere from or near DC/I95.

Here is where I will be working.

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=...num=1&ct=title

I can tolerate a commute of up to 45 minutes or so.

Alright in the above mentioned cities. What places should I avoid neighborhood wise? I am mostly looking to buy a single family home with a garage and being young and fresh out of college I am going on the cheap side. Renting for a year or so isn't out of the question.

if you wanna buy a single family home, then manassas/gainesville/haymarket/bristow will be cheaper... manassas probably you wanna stay out of if your a honda driver. the other three are mainly yuppies

well i rent to buy right now. in gainesville my house is 5000sq ft and 2200 a month. my ex has a 3dr roomapt in alexandria and its 2200 a month.

I am definately a bit lower end than you. 1000 Sq Ft is fine for me. All I really want is a garage/maybe a bit of a yard. That and not get mugged getting the mail.

2200 a month would be eatting about 1/2 my monthly salary heh. I currently have a place in Fredericksburg, but I in no way want to commute that every day. Woodbridge maybe, but still I hate I95.

there smaller single family homes in the begannning of my neighborhood (parks at pidemont) that have a 1 car garage, not a big yard.. probably under 3k sq ft. i see them going for 1000 less. that might be up your alley

Hey man lots of foreclosures in Centreville in the Sully Station area at great prices. If you would like I have a realitor that lives in Cville so he knows the homes around this area. Shoot me a PM if your interested in his contact info.
