Default Couple tech/ Legality questions

So I got the bike I was looking for , a CJ360T, and am going through, rebuilding the carbs, re-doing wiring, and upgrading some shit, putting on rearsets, cafe style seat, clip ons, etc.

Had a couple questions, and have no clue to ask, hahahahaha. Funny, I'm used to knowing everything with 240's.

1) Anyone know what the fork tube diameter for a CJ360 would be? Need to know for clip ons. I can find a ruler, but if someone knows would be easier.

2) What is the legality regarding lights? I plan on running the headlight and tail light, and basiclly nothing else. I think it is still legal from what I am reading, but I'm not sure. Hand signals are fine.

3) Is it required for a motorcycle to have a speedometer/ odometer? Was going to use a frenched headlight housing that you can drop a gauge in, and put the tach there and not run the speedo, but if a speedd is required, will have to change plans.

Thanks, and I'm sure I'll add questions later.

speedo isn't required. i don't recall ever owning a bike with one, and i've owned aloooooot of bikes.

only lighting that's required is a headligh with hi/lo, tail, and brake lights. and at least a left mirror and a horn. you can get a cheapie bar end mirror for a bicycle. it's legal, and looks sweet on cafe bikes.

don't know the fork tube diameter off the top of my head.probably in the nieghborhood of 38mm, but try digging around here:

www.ohiocaferacers.com.

sick bikes, and the guy that owns the place is good peoples.

Yea, I read that

Good to go then.

Gonna pick up a model A tail light off ebay

It's sweet, my stock tach has the neutral and turn signal indicators. Gonna re-wire it so it shows the spot for the turn signal indicator is the high beam indicator, and put the correct blue lens in it, so there should be no external lights and shit.

Also gonna adapt/ fab up my own rear sets/ brackets.

sweet.. I thought I had read somewhere that turn signals werent actually required.

iirc it was that they werent required but if you didnt have them you had to have no wires showing or something. (I wanna streetfighter look my bike but came to a stop when I realized I would have to figure something out for my turn signals lol)

Yea, if the bike is equipped with them they have to work.

The harness on my bike is such a fucking mess, I'm gonna have to re-wire the thing anyway, so it's no biggie for me.
