okay so my car does this wierd thing now where whenever i start to turn the wheel it will start to stick about half way trough and it feels like it breaks and it pops and turns the rest of the way. and when it happens the whole like shakes. i just got it aligned the other day and its a 97 but they put it on a 94 range to align it on. i already know i need to fix that but would that cause the problem? because it started happening after they did that. it doesnt seem like it would. also i already know i need a new axle cause the boot is ripped and it clicks when i turn so i was wondering if whats happening is related to my axle needing replacing, my alignment being on a different year range, both? niether? if anyone knows anything any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks

 

check to see if your steering column is hitting anything as it rotates.

 

You know what a CV joint looks like bro? Not sarcastic, being honest. Replace that thing, if its clicking you're already driving on a time bomb. Sure, some can go 200 miles on a bad joint, but, dare I tell you what happens when that joint rips to threads when you're going 65 on the highway?

 

Sounds like my old sentra the rack and pinion was bad.

 

yeah i know the cv joints messed up. but i cant just get a new cv joint i have to get a whole new axle

 

I know this.. lol. Then get a damn axle, its either that or go ahead and have it lock up/shread up taking your entire wheel (hub) assembly with you. Will be the ride of your life!

 

yeah i already know i need a new axle. im getting that fixed i was just wondering if anyone else had a similiar problem and if there was something else that needed replacing while i was in there

 

heh same problem i'm having with my front end atm man except both my axles are fine... and mine only happens when turning to the left (driverside suspension took brunt of damage since it was pinned up on the median)

it sounds to me like your rack got jarred and might need to be replaced... i can find you a semi used, tested to be properly functioning (aswell as warrantied) rack for about $95, comes with both inner and outer tie rod ends as well, you will however need to replace the dust shields (about $60 from most car part suppliers), since they cut them during testing to make sure everything is functioning as should be...
