Radio harnesses
This isnt your hardcore tech or anything, but i cant find anyone around here that will give me an honest answer.
Cliff Notes: I have a radio and no harness and everyone i talk to says the harness is no where to be found..rendering the radio useless. Lemme hear your suggestions...thanks in advance.
The whole story...
Here is my situation:
Just bought my SE-R. Car had been broken into while sitting and someone FUBAR'd the stock radio that was in it. I have pulled that stuff out and was going to replace it with a random JVC AM/FM/CD player just so i can have something to listen to for my 80 mile round trip to school. The reason im using that "deck" is that i got it for free from another car my dad bought. It wasnt installed in that car, so none of the harnesses were with it.
My problem:
I now want to install this CD player into my SE-R and have no harnesses for it. I went to Audio One in Richmond and the guy said its impossible to get a harness for it...is that true? He truly seemed honest, but i know that he'd rather sell a $140 deck then a $5 harness. He said i'd have to contact JVC directly and have them send me one...and that it would cost a lot. He said if there was a local JVC dealer i could contact them...then he couldnt find one.
This was not going to be a difficult project and i wasnt prepared to spend any real amount of money to get this working. Im not looking for a "system" or any heavy, worthless shit like that..just a CD player that works. Anyone out there that does car audio got any advice? Anyone know what the hell im talking about? TIA

ok could you clear somthin up for me...Do you need the plug that goes into the back of the deck then to where....do you just need a few inches of wires like the plugs that come with it??? or do you need the complete harness like for your car??
I JUST need the plug that goes into the back of the deck and then a little bit of wire that i can splice myself into my stock harness. I knew it would end up confusing people..it was hard to describe.
The guy at Audio One said they dont sell just the plugs and then proceeded to try and sell me new stuff.....of course. If thats true, then i'll move on and probably just not have a radio. My money is going into my other car..i refuse to spend more then gas money on this one as it is. If you do have any tips plese let me know though.

Your answer.
He told you the half truth. You can get one from JVC, but they don't like doing things like that because of theives. (they steal a radio then need some pieces like that) So they jack up the price a lot.
If I remember I'll check my toolbox tomorrow to see if I have a JVC harness. Might get lucky. I used to sell them under the table when I was an installer for $20 a pop. You can prolly pick one up that way going around to local shops and asking the installers (not the salespeople or managers).

Well i can understand that reason i guess...makes sense.
I'd appreciate it if you happen to have one, it would help me out a lot. Im going to hit up Best Buy and Circuit City this week and ask installers like you said. Try to cut the middle man out and throw a few bucks their way..haha.
