I got a speeding ticket today doing 51 on a 30mph road and the cop was using a radar. He said it was reckless but just going drop to failure to obey highway sign/stop sign. I calculated everything $30 for violation he wrote plus $62 processing fee total of $92. Now on the Summons he described disobey highway sign but right below he wrote 51 in 30 miles zone , can they still change the charge and give me reckless instead??

The judge can ammend it to reckless if he wants but thats unlikely.

Considering the cop already gave you a break(fail to obey highway sign is like 3 points vs 6 reckless) I would prepay it.

well it all depends.. if you're under 18.. which Im sure you're not.. then I would go to court. they'll tell you to go to driving classes and blah blah blah..

if its your first offense.. I would go to court.. and take driving classes BEFORE the court date..

if in both scenarios the judge doesnt let you go. than that judge is a complete asshole..

I got a speeding ticket today on rt. 123 53/35, I'm gonna go to court just for shits and giggles. You never know, cop might not show up. What's the worst that can happen if you go to court, you get found guilty and have to pay a fine.

 

i got pulled over for no front plate and illegal exhaust which i think is bullshit
