apparently i can only access this site through the use of a proxy? was i banned or something?

If you were banned, a proxy would not have an effect on your access. You'd still be banned. Perhaps your ISP or your work is blocking the site?

I just got rid of those bastards over on the boards i mod on. They spammed the shit out of the threads early this morning. Most of the IP's are from china. If you google the emails, they are damn sure popular spammers.
