on saturday im supposed to be getting an 87 supra turbo the oil seals on the turbo are shot and i wanted if anyone knowof a new turbo i can get to increase psi and be safe in the motor also how to get the most power out of the stock motor thanks

 

7mg(t)e's are notorious for blowing headgaskets. Most of the time at the back of the head and leaking coolant externally. personally i wouldnt turn up the boost much unless you are prepared to replace the HG. i have in the past torqued the HG down more than the OEM specs and never had a problem with 14psi...but the engine only had 70K on it and was babied from the start. other than that its a fairly strong engine.

 

i heard the hg problem so i idont want alot of boost but like 12 or 13psi iheard tourqe it to like 70 pounds

 

any other supra owners got any advice

 

I would just get those seals fixed and run a bigger turbo of your choice. I would prefer smaller big turbo with quick spool for DD'n. Thats my opinion.

I have a friend with a 87 Supra TT. JDM 1J Twin Turbo, well it was twin and he decided to go with a te-26 turbo. basically a small factory sized Toyota Turbo. stillhas quick spool like the twins but more top end. and it definetly cleaned things up in his engine bay.

 

He basically wanted a quick DD weekend fun car. his name on here is Redbrick.
