I called the dealership and they said the car was to old or something so is there an alternative? I asked my bro and he said i could take out the door lock and go to a locksmith and he will make me a key....is this true?

what kind of car and what yr?
I've gone to toyota before with my registration and insurance card as proof of ownership and they cut me a a key then n there.
