I'm looking at a car that has some damage on its rear quarter panel and want to figure out if it will be worth it for me to pick it up. Basically, I wanted to know if anyone could give me a ballpark guess of what I should expect to pay to get the quarter panel/paint fixed on this e39 bmw. The paint/bodywork on the rest of the car is pretty solid, I know its had some paintwork in the past but the carfax looks good.

These are all I have to go on for now, so excuse me if they aren't the best. I've already asked the owner if hes had a quote regarding the bodywork and am waiting on a reply. Thanks in advance for any helpful replies.

That panel looks welded. Expect that even if you do pay to get it fixed (which I cannot even begin to estimate), your trunk/tails will probably never line up quite right again.

the panel is welded. there are no cuts or gashes in the metal though so it may be fixable without having to cut/weld a new quarterpanel in there.
its fixable and the tail light will line up perfectly like it was when it was new...that is if you get someone that knows what they are doing...with that said...i can do it and your looking about a grand...fix that and blend trunk lid, left rear door and bumper...
