Default timing chain issue for the ka24de gurus

Well the engine is brand new with about 14k miles on it and my chain is starting to rattle. Is it safe to assume the top chain guide is broke or do I have a tensioner issue?

Did you not replace all the timing guides with new OEM ones?

I would assume it could be that. The top timing chain guide can be removed without any ill effects. Take it off and see if the noise goes away.

Well I ordered a remanufactured engine and it was already in place. I planned on taking it apart this weekend to further diagnose the problem. Just seeing if anyone else had more knowledge than me on this one. And if it is removed it will do no harm correct?

Well took it apart and there is no top guide cover and the valve cover is all scratched up from the chain rubbing. I'm lost now. And any help would be appreciated

Check your tensioner as I have seen some of the cheap aftermarket ones fail.
