I talked to a few guys on the R6 Forum. They all said to have legit papers. Stick to the 30 MPH speed limit. and all should be well. They also said to stay away from THP, lol.

Re: my shop is going to the gap
I just went a couple of weeks ago.
Don't listen to the lies of no recreational traffic. The place is fine.
The law is out there on the weekends mostly. During the week most of the patroling was on the straight sections north of the Dragon headed towards Maryville.
If you've been there before, you know when you can go for your sub 10 minute pass through the Dragon. If you haven't been there before, you'll figure it out. If you can't figure it out, pick a spot on the Tree of Shame for your plastics.
Many sets of knee pucks were scraped up when I was there.
If you decide to go for a run on the Cherohala Skyway, make some easy passes through there and learn the road before you open it up. I believe it's milepost 11 that gets everyone. More people are flown out of there on a helicopter than the Gap. Much higher speed turns and a few decreasing radius turns that trick you. By the time you figure it out, you're headed over the guardrail and waiting on the medics.
Be safe.
