today I did a proper devac on my 85 crx and i hooked the msd up but the car wont fire up? Im stumped? It was running better when i fixed the vacuum lines but it was still missin while idling. It has a big cam in it so i have to idle it at 1400 rpm. then i hooked the msd thinkin it would help, now nothing, wont fire at all!!! PLEASE HELP!!

re check all your connections. i just recently installed one on a dohc b series with no trouble. i have insatalled them on other cars as well with no problems. sounds like you do not have the signal wire from the distributor hooked up properly. could be a bad ground or a loose connection.
check for spark at the plug wires (careful if it has power your ass is going to get lit up wrap a towel around the screwdriver if you do it that way). if there is none check the msd box for power by probing the small red wire, which turns it on, and the main power lead. also check for a GOOD ground, they need it. if the box has both power and ground it is very possible that it has gone bad. the are known to do that.
i traced a non fire issue before a race on one of the cars i crew on and it turned out that the msd just went bad. he drove it into the pits shut it off and then for the next practice it wouldn't start back up. box just went bad. i put a new one in and off she went.

missing... you can't diagnose that unless the car is running. a miss could be a number of things... get an ignition that works properly first so you can for sure rule that out as the problem
and do you know for sure it is missing... cars with a big cam will do what they call camming and seem rough like they are missing. you can tell by pulling plug wires one at a time. if you pull one and the motor doesn't seem to change/ run rougher then it is missing. if you go through all of them and none of them changes the way the motor runs (ie looses RPM, idles rough) then it is probabally camming and may need a carb tune to help smooth it out at idle.

ok so its not missing, it running rough... if it has a radical cam in it i don't know if you can get it smoothed back out. but if you haven't gotten it tuned for that cam and anything else you really should. carbed motors are touchy when you get to adding things. they just arent able to compensate like a computer controlled car can.
