Awful Arthur's Oyster Bar/Restaurant (http://www.awfuls.com) of Virginia Beach has teamed up with a few local car/bike groups and businesses to provide a fun and friendly environment for all car enthusiasts on Saturdays! Awful's has been supporting the local automotive/bike community for years by welcoming large groups of bikes to their establishment on Fridays, as well as by hosting the regular Mazda RX-8 club meetings. (Normal ABC law still applies, so no drankin' booze in the parking lot.)

Saturdays during the day (12noon-whenever) Awful Arthur's welcomes any car enthusiast in the 757 area code and beyond to come out and enjoy good food, good fun, and some legal socializing in the parking area in front of the restaurant. When possible, announcements will be made at the restaurant regarding upcoming automotive events. Dan (the owner) has agreed to host this event on a regular basis so long as there is no destructive or disruptive behavior, people patronize the businesses there, and security enforcement is not needed. Patrons are welcome to stay mingling until closing time.

Parking lot attendees should be patrons of the restaurant or other businesses in some way. Come inside for a few games of pool, a round on the arcade machine, a few songs on the jukebox, or simply get some good food, drink, and "talk shop". Awful's is also well known to host a full "RAW Bar" which means LOTS of amazing sea food steamed right there in front of you. It is a family establishment and kids are welcome to attend as well.


If you are trying to maybe sit around and BS about cars over a beer then please come out and please have a DD on hand! We do not need to make the streets more dangerous and we definitely do not want to see anyone get hurt.

And the food is fucking disgusting.

 

I thought the food was decent, but the service sucked. Tim and I sat at the bar for 30 minutes as the bartender kept walking by even as I waved him down.

Sorry y'all had such a bad experience. If you only came out once, then you should give it one more shot! I've been frequenting the establishment since 2005 and have only ever had issues with drunken customers, not employees.

I've never promoted/hosted this event ever before. Even if a few people here aren't down to come out (or drive 45 minutes to Moyock for good automotive service) then I have plenty of friends/customers in Virginia and coming up from carolina as well. It really should be a good turnout.

Edit: Sumo guys came out one saturday evening around 10-11pm and I agree that the turnout wasn't impressive. Me and my people were already there playing pool before the party started. I'm not trying to play midnight club. I'm trying to have some good people interested in automobiles come out and have a beer and socialize during the day like normal people. If that isn't for you, well, then I guess we won't be honored with your presence.
