Another ticket?
Got a speeding ticket the other day (80 in a 65) and yes I deserved it. The officer who pulled me over was very professional and all but somehow he screwed my name up. The ticket has my first name as my last and my middle as my first. I plan on paying the ticket but is there any legal issues here?
Got one when i was in high school and took a kid that looked a lot like me to court with me and got out of it b/c the cop couldn't tell the judge who he pulled over for 100% certainty..... so i bet you could probably swing this in your favor too
It may not show up on VA's DMV because out of state violations are posted in VA's DMV by name and date of birth. Va DMV will assign out of state licensed violators a "D" number to go with your name and date of birth for Va DMV only. So, if a officer stopped you and ran you by name and date of birth it would look like you never received that 80/65..because that summons was improperly filled out.
As for having it dismissed...depends on the judge. I've seen it go both ways.
When I got my first ticket I was in VA on a WA license and it didn't carry over, see in WA if you are under 18 and get a ticket of 20+ you lose your license until you are 18.... I didn't lose mine. I did switch it to a VA license after I left the court room though.
I got a speeding ticket and the officer spelled my last name way off. The only problem I had was that I had to search for the mispelled name to prepay. Other than that I'm 99.9% sure they search your DL#, not your name for their computers.
Chances are it will get to your out of state license because the link from DMV to DMV is your license number not your name. When I run out of state licenses by name and date of birth a lot of them require me to verify the license number for duplicate names or anything even close. I prefer to run people by name and date of birth, our system checks the home state and automatically checks VA as well. The system can't do that if I run them by their out of state license number. Most of the time I end up running them by both name and date of birth and license number to get all the information.
