I dont know about you guys but im tired of having to worry about my exhaust every time i take my evo out. Again, tonight i got another ticket!!! Does anyone know what the EXACT law states, every officer tells me someting different!!! Almost every ticket i have ever had has been exhaust. There needs to atleast be a concrete law for this, and not just leave it up to the officer to tell how loud it is. what may be loud to one cop may not be so bad to another! In the end its taking the power from the judge. He should be the only person to weigh the options, not an officer. An officer will issue a summons to court to see a judge...that should be where it is decided if a exhaust is too loud or not. Or... they need decible meters. The law will state that if an exhaust is over X decibles its illegal. They have a tint meter...why not an exhaust meter?!?! You cant honestly tell me that my car is louder than a harley, or any other bike for that matter!!! Even the loudest civic is no louder than a simi truck, or if you really think about it how loud is a train. One officer told me its a distraction...ok well how distracting is your blue lights, or a good looking girl walking down the street, or even another nice car. I can think of 10 things more distracting IN my car than outside it, radio, cellphone, ect, ect, just to name a few. I just think there is something that can be done. Anyone have any ideas where to start?

If they had to have a decibel meter in every car that would cost them more money.

 

I got pulled 3 days after i bought my car with the exhaust already on it for the same thing. Apperantly anything "aftermarket" exhaust wise is illegal. But for some reason they have muffler shops all around. Thats like selling weed at stores.

 

of course i have, ive got out of all of them i think. put the stocker on the switch it back. thats really besides the point, granted i dont like hearing a buzzcan honda as much as anyone else here, but that should be the owners choice if he/she wants to make that car sould like shit.

 

Change your exhaust to something stock appearing, it's really the only way. An officer is more so going on visual chrome reflection and noticeable large end mufflers to signal an easy ticket (noise does come into account but you are less likely to get pulled if it "appears" subtle or "stock".

I rode with a flat black straight 3" sewer pipe for a month and never got looked at, 6 months prior to that I rocked a dummy oem muffler cut and dumped before the inlet and was never stopped. I was pulled over consistently when I had an apexi N1 shiney replica mounted on the end, just a thought.

 

I also got pulled on Williamson and i told the cop to listen real quick, so he can hear all the fartcan exhaust that he could have pulled, instead he pulls me over. My car prob. dont sound the best to people but i think it sounds damn good compared to most. And not as loud, more of a low rumble.

 

true but there are some people that really to go to the exhaust shop to get their exhaust fixed. not to get the "sweet" catback put on

 

i had an polished N1 style on the integra for about a year and got pulled at least once a month.I had TNGChris put a stock looking magnaflow on and painted it flat black,after that i got pulled once within a years time.The magnaflow was twice as loud.
