I thinking about taking a job up in Alexandria but I am not to sure I want to leave Va beach. Tell me if you like living up there and what are some positives and negatives. The job I might be taking is a web design job.

 

my ex lives there.. it all depends which part you live in.. but alexandria is pretty ghetto for the most part

 

thats what I thought. My sister lives there and when I went up there last to help her move in it looked boring and like shit. I did not drive around or anything so I wasnt sure.

 

Alexandria is pretty much one extreme or the other. Either its extremely nice, and correspondingly expensive...OR...you live in the ghetto, you have no parking, and your girlfriend gets tag teamed by at least 3 dudes on the walk back from the metro.

True story: I have a friend (about 25 and a fairly large dude) who lives in a high-rise 1800/mo 1 BR at braddock metro. My friend has to walk through the projects just to get home from the metro. Often he tells me about kids provoking him, and throwing shit at him trying to get a rise out of him. One day he was walking and some dude straight ran up and punched him between his shoulder blades. Now, he carries a concealed daily just to walk home.

Alexandria is a great place, lots of bars, lots of restaurants, but the city putting projects right in the damn middle of it was stupid. Not only that, but they are expanding the projects (and building them a 15 million dollar fitness center).

Meh. my thoughts on alexandria is that its a shit hole. only nice part is old town on the water front. fuckin amazing place for dates n stuff...

 

Kingstowne is not bad. Lived there for 2 years in an apt and had no trouble with people.
