sounds like you may want to build your own, based on your budget connotations. I'd say do what dorko suggested. Also, design it on paper first so you know what the end result of what you want is going to cost you, and start with a good barrel, remember that barrel length plays many factors, so think about what this weapons purpose will be. If its target practice 16" and above will suit you well, if it will need to see action, keep in mind something like a 16" barrel will require you stuff it between your legs when rolling up to a hot situation.

edit: also consider other calibers, especially the 6.5

also, go test one out. Im sure you know someone with a AR15 if your are trying to buy one for yourself.

make sure you like how they feel/shoot, before you go drop $800 on one.

 

If you dont know anyone with one, I'll let you put a few through the bushmaster I have @ a&p, you pay for the ammo though . I'll also teach you the rundown of what to clean, and how to clean it, what'll need to be replaced as it wears, etc.

 

I appreciate the offer but I'm already a custom to how the rifle shoots. I'm also familiar with field stripping and cleaning of the weapon. I just figured someone might have one they don't use or someone might be in need of cash.
