Moving truck + dolley suggestions?
My girlfriend is moving from Richmond to St Louis around Thanksgiving time. We're looking at a few Uhaul places that bundle the small 10' truck with car dolley, were looking at 600+ as that sits. We'd really like to get something much cheaper than this, I thought we would be floating around the $100 mark, which was obviously way off. She will be towing a 2001 mercury sable, has a bed, desk, and a shit load of clothes. Any suggestions?
drive the sable...pack everythin you can into the sable....fuck the bed and buy another when you get there
you can prolly fit nearly eveything on there buy the bed and desk...

+1. I wouldn't be moving just a bed and a desk unless they're sentimental or something. Everywhere sells beds and desks.
Thanks for the suggestions, but were not getting rid of the desk or bed. The bed is somewhat sentimental to her and the desk isn't quite that big. She still has little things here and there like little night stands, bathroom stuff, kitchen stuff, etc.. that aren't all going to fit in the car. I should have mentioned that earlier. Really didn't even realize it until I saw it all. But she still wouldn't need anything more than a 10' truck. Right now were looking at Penske and Enterprise. Were thinking about the 12' truck here http://www.pensketruckrental.com/bus...lightduty.html and just grabbing a dolly for 539 or so. Best deal we've seen so far.
you are seriously mistaken if you think its gonna be cheap.
plan on spending at least a grand for that move. remember-fuel aint cheap, nor are these trucks a civic. 8mpg is about the best you will average on most of them.

Drive the car. If you plan to tow it, use a diesel if possible to get the best gas mileage.
What about just borrowing/renting a pickup truck and driving the car? That would be by far the cheapest option. You drive the truck (roundtrip) and she drives her car one way.
