You are in limp mode. You need to double check the work you did to the ecu. A multimeter can come in handy. Did you set the rom up properly? Did you burn the chip properly?

You need to inspect all the solder joints, and it's also possible that you've touched something in the ECU and destroyed it from static electricity. You may have a bad solder joint or a small bridge of solder between two pins, or have thermally damaged something because you took too long while soldering it.. Is the CEL lit all the time?

i bought the chip from ebay, its a two step chip....lol
the ecu is a p72 ...i dont think the chip is in backwards b/c the car probably wouldnt have started, and the cars check engine light is just always on....im thinkin its a soldering problem....also the car pulsates when at idle

Do you get the rest of the parts you need? You didn't just solder in the chip without a socket, did you? If you just installed the chip, and the ECU was completely stock before this, then you're missing a few parts. There is more to chipping an OBD1 ECU than just soldering a chip in place. Seriously, if you're not even sure the chip is in backwards or not, you really should be doing stuff like this.

yea^^^ half moon goeos towards the plugs. if u put it in backwards you prolly fucked the chip up for good so just trash it, or actually write over it
