2001 Mercury Sable internal fuel pump - how much should I be paying to replace it?
I'm getting estimates of anywhere from 125 to 165 for the actual fuel pump. Now given the fuel pump is inside the fuel tank and the tank would need to be dropped to be replaced, what sort of $$ should I expect to pay to have it professionally installed? Price ranges? Also, anyone recommend good mechanics with decent prices in the Richmond area? Could I maybe do this myself with motor swapping experience?

if u get yourself a manual, it shouldnt be too hard.
just relieve the fuel pressure, make sure the car is on E or siphon the gas.
drop the tank (make sure you have a couple jacks/jackstands/helper cuz they can be fucking heavy if it has gas in it!)
from there it should be a cake walk.
just make sure to replace the washers/orings/gaskets cuz you dont want fuel leaking and have to take it all back apart again.
just relieve the fuel pressure, make sure the car is on E or siphon the gas.
drop the tank (make sure you have a couple jacks/jackstands/helper cuz they can be fucking heavy if it has gas in it!)
from there it should be a cake walk.
