I've got a lighter I'm trying to pull from my truck, problem is that no matter how much I push, or look for screws around it, it won't come out.(1994 passport)

I'm trying to pull it to trouble shoot it, because one day I was using my air pump to put air in my tires and then my pump started acting funny(rev high, rev low) so I just turned off the pump and went to the gas station, thought whatever, later on when I went to plug in my mp3 player... NOTHING HAPPENED. it just... died..I remember hearing a SNAP or a POP type noise before it died though... I know its gotta be a wire.. or something.. radio still works.. so its not a fuse..

Anyone delt with taking these out before?
(I'm stumped here. I can do electrical work fine. I'm not just 100% super pro mechanic material, even though I can make anything run)

 

did you first check the fuse???

edit nvm. just read its not the fuse

 

there should be a complete metal sleeve that screws on the main lighter socket that holds it into the hole..just unscrew the 2 pieces
