Hey everyone, as surprising as it is I just received my first ticket today and don't know much about them.

My question is this, was the cop supposed to write a court case number at the top of the citation? I'm not able to find my case on the website to pay the ticket either, which is weird since he said I can pay it online. It was for a non-moving violation for my exhaust, which ironically isn't really that loud.

Forgot to mention that it was in Virginia Beach.

 

look harder he should of wrote it on there. I believe.

 

At the top where it says case no. it is blank. The only numbers I see on the citation is the law section code above the charge description. Other than that I don't see anything except orange lettering on the top and bottom that don't match up with the alotted number of spaces (6 or 8) that make up the case number.

 

umm iono if its still a non-moving violation, cause i know they used to be but i had one on my driving record. and since it was on my driving record i was under the impression that it now is considered one, but what do i know.............................................. ..Big D

Yea it took a good 2 weeks before my ticket was posted online. I just searched by my name or court date on the ticket.

 

Thanks for the help everybody. I just thought it was weird that they didn't give me a case number to aide in finding my case.

 

if you have a stock exhaust take a picture of it and go to court and it will be dropped, if you have an aftermarket exhuast, change it, take a pic and go to court and it will be dropped, if you don't do either, pay the fine and just wait for your next encounter with the beaches finest.....

 

put a silencer on it and take pics or take a pic of another persons silencer. i went to court and just told them i had it fixed and i had pics. they dropped it. they should of told you the court date but yeah you wil have to go to court. wait or just call them.
