Default Good brake pads?

Whats a good company to stick with? I'm looking for something not too expensive. My braking performance is not that great and everyone says I shouldn't get drilled rotors but a good set of pads. Are axxis pads good? ecb? As of right now, i don't think i can lock up my tires... and i dont have abs. Any info would be helpful.

I'm not a big fan of ABS myslef, I disabled it on my Z. I've found that a brembo slotted or cross drilled rotor (Zimmerman is good too) combined with an EBC green pad makes for great clamping power.
