Machine work (good price/bad price)?
Alright guys,
So I'm building a single cam for my daily driver. I'm buying my parts piece by piece from a friend (will have them all in two more weeks or so). I'm getting:
75.5mm pistons
crower rods
crane cam
valve springs/retainers
.5mm oversized valves
block guard
Now, stock bore on the single cam is 75mm. I'm just going to need somebody too bore it out to 75.5 and then do a valve job on the head. The Head Shop off London Bridge wants to charge me:
$50 for hot tank
$95 for boring
$125 for notching (I can notch that shit myself)
$300 for valve job (making the oversized fit/3angle)
I've never had to have any machine work done (always bought oem size parts), do those prices seem reasonable?
Thanks.

hot tank should be 40-50
bore, deck, and hone should be 150-200ish
---You need to see if they are/are not decking/honing the block. you NEED both
---you dont have a price for block guard install on there (its not a bolt on. they need to do it)
notching is based on hours per job based on labor rate
valve job is right about correct. depending what they are/are not doing (sand blast, mill, etc.)
