Default trouble running when cold

i went to drive my car today, and at first i didn't notice anything wrong, but when i would keep the car at steady
speed the engine felt like it would bog down a little. also when i would come up to a stop sign and push the clutch in,
the rpms would just drop and the car would shut off. however, once the car was warmed up it ran and drove just fine.

we changed the oil/filter in my car yesterday, and while it was in the garage my dad checked out the rear o2 sensor that had
broken last month, and while he was messing around with it something broke off. do you think the o2 sensor could be the problem?

thanks for any information/help provided in advance

Rear O2 sensor usually is just used to monitor whether the cat converter is working properly. You should clean your idle air control valve (IACV) screen, and also check out your fast idle thermo valve (FITV). If both of those are fine, check out the coolant temp sensor and then the MAP sensor. If you haven't cleaned out or replaced your PCV valve for a while, that's a good easy (and free or cheap) thing to double check also.

I don't think it's the rear O2 sensor though, because that would generally throw a CEL or cause problems no matter what the engine temp. You might want to stop by someplace with an OBD2 scanner and see if there are any stored codes that could give a better picture of whatever problem you're having.

Oh, and do you have a lightened flywheel?

i'm pretty sure its just the stock flywheel. i wasn't having this problem until we changed the oil and filter yesterday, and that's all that we did besides messing with the rear 02, didn't touch anything under the hood or anything.

Get it checked out with an OBD2 scanner, and I would replace the O2 sensor if pieces have been falling off of it. Changing the oil should do anything, unless the oil was low before and wasn't making whatever problem show itself. Sometimes if you're right on the edge of an idle problem, a different viscosity of oil (or fresh oil) or different amount of oil can create just enough difference to make a problem appear. So it could be that. I'd still replace the O2 sensor if it's visibly faulty though.

they didn't have the right o2 sensor at the store but it has been ordered and should be available in a few days
as far as checking/cleaning sensors, i'll do that when i get home from school tomorrow and get back to you

i cleaned the screen on the iacv and it wasn't that dirty to begin with.
are you sure it cant be the o2 sensor? the thing is pretty much hanging, touching the ground

edit: jumped the plug on the ecu and its throwing 3 codes:

65 Rear oxygen sensor circuit malfunction. (this has been showing since the o2 sensor broke)

these two are new:

20 Electronic load detector - possible open or grounded circuit in ECU wiring.

41 Heated oxygen sensor - heater circuit.

The ELD code is most likely from the O2 sensor heater. I'd bet something in the O2 sensor is shorting because it's (obviously) broken.

Well, the first thing I'd do is disconnect the old one, just for safety so there won't be any possibility of damaging the ECU. It's broken, so it doesn't matter if it's actually plugged in or not.

Do that before turning the car again.

No, disconnect the old one now, before you drive the car again. Unless the car will just sit until the new one comes in.
