Default 95 EX Transmission.

The previous transmission had a nasty grinding noise, my buddy and I are pretty sure it was the input shaft bearing and the clutch, so I bought a transmission from someone on here who said it came from a well running car that had been in a rear end accident. The trans/clutch were in great shape. I installed them today with the help of a friend who works for a local transmission shop who does these things all day and everything went smooth. I go to drive it and it's making this halfway clicking/knocking noise, we aligned everything right and all I can think is something is wrong inside the transmission or possibly the clutch. It's mainly heard at the lower RPM's of first gear but is still hearable throughout the other gears but fainter. Does anyone have any inside info it could be? This is my first Honda and I really enjoy driving it, but this thing is killing me, the main reason I sold my RX-7 is because I began resenting it because it turned into a money pit, and I'm really hoping this doesn't turn out to be the same. If ANYONE knows what it could be I'd really appreciate it. We topped off the fluids, aligned everything. It does need a new cv halfshaft on the passenger side, but I'm not sure that's the issue.

Your axle could be the issue, but possibly one of the bearings, i.e. the throwout bearing. Does it do this all the time or just when you are driving?

Doubt there is any problems internally, sounds like something simple.

Could possibly be the throwout bearing, but I bought a brand new throwout bearing tonight, and had that put in because the noise goes away when i have the clutch engaged while idling, now.... as far as driving... i haven't really tested putting the clutch in while accelerating and allowing the engine to rev... guess that's something to try right now.

I had one, but the guy said the one that was on the transmission was in good condition and to not worry about replacing it, partly because he didn't have something to take it off with. I wish someone could hear it, think... cards in the wheels of your bike as a kid... just louder and quicker.

Anyone have any ideas? Please help. It'd be a great birthday present if someone knew what was wrong.

well for one the pilot bearing isnt on the transmission....its in the back of the flywheel and its not hard to take of at all. as for your problem it could the the input shaft bearing, and to change that you need a press.
