Default converting a dirt bike to a motard for the streets

how hard is it to convert a dirt bike to a street legal motard?

i found a drz with some knobbie tires for a good deal. i was thinking of just slapping some lights on and switching to some sumo tires.

but i've heard that it was a PITA to get the DMV to pass it for street use. what's the process like? Is it worth the hassle?

thanks

PM Armenian, he got his KTM legal for the street. Voodoo has a street legal WR450, he might now what all is involved too.

I had a DRZ400E that was legal, but it was bought with a street title from PA, so it was just a matter of transferring to a VA title.
