2009 East Coast S197 Mustang Shootout

Announcement

Five Guys Racing is pleased to announce the First Annual East Coast S197 Mustang Shootout at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, North Carolina, on Sunday, November 1, 2009. “The Rock” provides a centrally located, easily accessed facility on the Eastern seaboard complete with concessons, sponsor space, and nearby hotels.

The event was originally intended to focus on the 4.0L and 4.6L naturally aspirated S197's with six index, side-by-side race classes. However, due to popular demand the forced induction crowd is invited to participate in six additional classes for added excitement. The facility will manage a Sportsman ladder, and racers will face a .5 Pro Tree, half second indexes, and no breakout rules in effect. The overall emphasis is on street cars you can live with and drive every day, so all cars must be tagged and registered, and cannot be gutted. Winners in each class will receive trophies. Other awards are also being developed for items such as "best 60 foot", "Best R/T", "longest road trip to the event", etc.

The following classes have been developed:

Grudge Matches!
Concerned about get eliminated early on? Don't be. Instead, please join some of the well known S197 racecar drivers and our other special guests in the non-award category. Call out a buddy (or a nemesis) for some straight-up heads up racing action. No one to call out? Just keep making "time trial" passes as if you are at a private rental. Everyone will have plenty of opportunity to race all day!

Pure Street- 13.999 - 13.500

The Rules have been loosened up abit to include more cars, again it's all about street cars not race cars. as far as the 2 steps, I think they are included and Meth will be allowed in Power adder class. don't think they help much for the N/A Guys. 3 Passes in the time trials to determine your class.

This event is all day, so between classes we will hold Grudge Match Races and Special event races like worlds fastest SVT Lighting and S197 Mustang.

We will have BBR, Bama Chips, Leonard Racing, Fore Precision Works and many more venders at the event where you can chat with them about future mod or just to say Hi...

Saturday Night Halloween Party for the Kids, Costume contest, Games, Candy and Goodies.

Drawings for items like Fore Precision Works fuel rails and more..

3 Passes in the time trials to determine your class, ..
then a turbo car with a automatic would easily have the advantage over a stick car because the stick car wouldnt be able to build boost off the line without the 2step...

True but 2 steps are included, MarcSpaz has Livernois Stage II Heads and Cams, Spec III Clutch and will have a 2 step for his setup. he is putting close to 400HP to the wheels N/A.
I do not see an issue with a 2 step.. But if you have one you have to use it during your time tials.

Rygen will have his 5.4L 3V PT70 Turbo Mustang there with a Trans brake 4R70 Auto tranny (and yes it's a dailly driver to DC each day with 600 RWHP)

5.4L 3 Valve Triton
PT70
Manley Forged Connecting Rods
ARP studs and main caps
Michigan rod bearing
Sealed power main bearing
.020 bore/hone
L&M 5.4 specific pistons
PH Enginer Builder Stage 2 Heads (details pending)
Cams (specs pending)
Cage (details/timing pending)

This event is going to be a Blast, We have people coming from Florida, Louisiana, Detroit Alabama, Kentuky, New Jersey and New York.

If your looking for a cage post up on the site, some one may have one or know where to get a custom one at a great price. We have connections

Yes Low Boost, he does not have a cage plus the engine is not complete yet. he is building it to run 9's at 17 PSI.

Follow his build here http://www.s197-mustang.com/forum/showthread.php?t=104
