man i dont know what the deal is. i just bought the bike off someone last week. i hope they didnt get me. i was riding it up and down the street and everything was fine. then i got home, and i was pulling it back in my garage. and when i go from neutral to 1st it cuts off. everytime. the clutch is pulled all the way in. any ideas? maybe the clutch needs adjusted?? im new to the whole bike scene, but im not dumb. i know how the bitches work. i hope all thats wrong is that it needs adjusted.

and yes, before anyone asks, im signed up to take the motorcycle safety class next week to get my license.

 

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but given the details you provided, the bike starts up and runs in neutral and when you shift to first it cuts off correct? You sure the kickstand is up ALL the way?

 

+1 to the kickstand not being up

 

thats my thought also...check the sensor...its like a push botton type...when the kickstand is all the way up it pushes it in...could be out of adjustment or broke all together

 

That is exactly what I was thinking. Or the clutch sensor if it has one. I think some bikes have one to make sure you are pulling in the clutch and holding the front brake when you go to start the bike.

 

im an idiot guys. i didnt know you couldnt put it in first with the kickstand down. like i said, im new to that. but i went riding around the neighborhood for about 20 min. trying to get a little comfort. on a bike before going to the class next week. thanks guys
