Default Someone knowledable to the MK2 VW?

My 87 GTI won't start and I just don't get it. Is there anyone local to the Stafford/Fredericksburg/Woodbridge area that could help me out? This is a CIS-E injection system.

I did, and no one is helpful. Everyone is too concerned about what rims they have, or how low their "dub" sits. Or pic whoring.

You expected something else from a VW owner?

more than likely either the popular vapor lock problem, or your distributor is bad. I've seen both a bunch of times on MKIIs. Unfortunately for you, I forgot how to test or fix the vapor lock thing.

Hokay, 87 GTI 16V. Stock, 312k miles. Cam timing is dead on, I have checked both the transfer pump and the fuel pump, and both are good. I replaced the fuel distributor with one of less mileage, about 100k miles, and it was running great. When I replaced it, I unbolted the old one, and put in the new one, including fuel lines and injectors. I have checked all the injectors and all have good spray patterns. I have done both the tests for checking the ecu as well as the knock computer. The only thing I know that is not connected is the knock sensor. Before I got the car, the distributor was replaced with an aftermarket one. Elsewise, all I have done is replaced the motor mounts, and fixed the seats. I popped the valve cover today, and actually looks pretty decent under there. Looks like the motor was at least half way cared for.

Have you checked for spark? Fuel pump relay and fuel distributor are definate possibilities.

My old volvo had CIS and those were likely culprits for no starts.
