anyone going to the SOLO II School?
is anyone here planning on attending the SOLO II autoX novice school for the ODRSCCA? event is Nov. 1st @ pungo airfield and the cost is $25. pre-regestration is required and can be done at http://www.odr-scca.org/index.html under the pre-registration tab. i know me phantomlord and mgbraceman plan on attending. wasn't sure if were gonna be the only dragva members out there...
I should be there. I've got my new Victoracers mounted and balanced, and I'll hopefully get my new front swaybar installed today if the rain holds off. Saturday will give me a chance to get the new tires scrubbed in and try to get some wheel time with my new setup. Should be fun! There's also a $5 discount for Sunday's event if you're attending Saturday's novice school. Plus, lunch is included on Saturday, so it's a bargain.
I'm usually a threat anyways since I'm normally the only person in BS
. The new tires and swaybar should really help out the overall PAX score though. I wanted to learn how to drive the car in stock trim before I went to the R-compounds. The heavy front sway bar really settles the rear end down. I managed to get it installed today, and the car handles completely differently on my S-02's around town. It feels very planted in the rear instead of ready to snap with one jab of the throttle. I can't wait to see what she'll do with the Victoracers.

may not be there after all, the SHO is in the shop and i just found out how bad the problem really is. if she's up, she may be there i will probably be there in any event...
Not sure how ODR is doing their school... but most autox schools, you don't want to have your good tires on. You can learn just as much if not more on crap tires, and you won't trash your expensive tires during the tons of runs you'll probably make.
Chris, were you at the Evolution Phase I at Pungo this August? I know there was a Chris from Richmond in a blue WRX, I'm just not sure about the last name. I was there in the silver S2000... Mike.
Anyways, I've got almost a year's experience on the stock rubber, and I'm almost at *my* limit of what I can do on them. Saturday's instructional session will let me "scrub in" the new tires, and get some wheel time with the new setup. That way, I'm not going into Sunday's autox on greasy new rubber with zero experience with the new tires and swaybar. I have no problem making about 20 runs on the R compounds for educational purposes
. Plus, the new swaybar is so stiff the car will understeer badly with the stock tires on it. The size of my new Victoracers brings the car back to neutral.
I agree though. A total novice wouldn't want to go to a school on R-compounds. It would be a waste. This event is open to folks with less than 2 years experience though. And for me, it makes sense to drive on the sticky tires.
