My friends sisters civic is throwing code 72 i believe that means its not firing right in the third cylinder i put the plugs out my civic in and tried my wire and it didnt solve the problem what else could fix this

 

dizzy, did you get the code erased then it came back?

 

worst case is a mechanical failure i.e. burnt valve

probable cause is somewhere in your ignition system on a honda

pull apart your distributor and check for a cracked cap/corroded terminals.

the number 3 cylinder is the second closest to the distributor.

you can check for spark by disabling the fuel on the car and cranking it with the wire out, use a screwdriver to the tip of the wire and if you get shocked your getting spark lol

 

and its getting spark because the idle changed when i pulled the wire while it was running

 

check your compression?

 

When's the last time the cap and rotor were changed?

 

not sure when they were changed she bought the car from a dealer like 3 months ago

 

could be as easy as a crudded up dist cap leads, or a faulty plug wire, start the troubleshooting process and youll eliminate alot of things.

 

anybody know where to look up the troubleshooting at online by any chance
