Clunking sound in 1998 Accord Front End
Okay here is the deal. My mom has a clunker that is a 98 accord auto 4dr and 4 cyl. There is a clunking sound in the frontend whenever you hit a bump or small ripple in the road. It sounds like it is from from the driverside. The car feels fine, rides solid and smooth, so I am at a loss on what it could be. I have taken the tires off and shook around random items to see if anything felt loose or would replicate that situation. I know the catconv can sound like that but I know for a fact it is not there.. Any help before I take it to Honda or another shop to have the problem fixed.
CV joint? Does it clunk when she turns?
Dr.Honda in Chesapeake usually tells me whats wrong with my shit for free, but then again I always get the work done.

It has to be something loose in the suspension, ball joint or tie rod maybe? Check the cv boot? Jack the car up and have somebody move the tire up and down while u look at it to see if anything move's.... Just trying to give advice, I could be wrong.
Rameybuilt put a cv axle in that side around october (noise was before at after) because the boot was ripped. The ball joints appear to be in good shape. i havent checked the strut mounts. I will make a list of what to check and go try as more ideas pour in. I will try moving the tire up and down as well. I did it without the tire on and played with the rotor up and down with presented zero results. I DO NOT have to be turning for the sound to occur. Just hit any sort of bump or ripple in the road. Thanks for all the imput so far guys
Upon grabbing the DS wheel well and shaking it up an down you can hear the rattle. it is lower than the strut and sounds from around behind the tire right in that facinity.
Justin. You call me for the most random ish ever.
I can look at the AC in the WRXr, my brother said he can put dye in it.
The accord, did you ever get a valve cover?
I heard that sound before and I remember telling you to bring it back in the day light :P
I just got my wisdom teeth pulled. You still in town?
Also, on the WRX, your shifter shaft seal is leaking. Ask Randy how hard it is to replace and I wouldn't mind learnign how to do it myself.

if you hear the noise when hitting bumps , the bushings on the front sway bar are probably worn,or gone ,, these are small links that connect the sway bar to the lower control arms , new parts are about 20 per side
