Cig lighter blows fuse?
So, I've checked online and on this forum and I've found similar topics but nothing exactly the same....
This happened out of nowhere.
Every time I plug something into my cig lighter, it blows the fuse. If nothing is plugged in, it is fine, but as soon as I plug something in, it blows.
I've tried with higher fuses and lower fuses and everytime I plug something it, it blows.
I found this....

But it's once I plug something in, that it shorts it.

this happened to me once. the problem ended up being that i had a partially exposed wire and everytime something was plugged in, it moved the power wire just enough to ground itself arc and blow the fuse.

What happens if you plug something in that isn't an electrical load, like a power cord with nothing connected to it? I'm guessing it's a mechanical problem with the socket itself..
good point, finally got around to taking it out, lol, there was no penny or change in it, so i guess that rules that out, where exactly was the wire exposed for you guys? maybe give me a hint of where to check, like close to the cig lighter? like easily accessible through the center of the dash?
I'll probably just go to Advance after work and get another socket and test it out.
Thanks for the hints guys, if it still blows with the new socket, I'll have to get back to you guys.
