I am planning a fall trip to Welch WV from October 28th through November 1st. We will be leaving the morning of the 28th and returning home mid afternoon on the 1st. I can carry ~8 large atvs in my trailer. Depending on how many go, someone may need to follow to carry people. If you just want to follow us up that is fine as well. We stay at a local hotel while we are there and have a local ride with us that knows the trails. We went up there in the spring and rode ~400 miles and still missed alot of the trails. We usually take a grill and cook out for dinner and cook breakfast in the rooms. If you do not want to cook, you can ride your atv into town and eat as well. The rooms are reasonably priced but I still need to call and check on the prices.

 

Is this the place that is basically an atv town?

 

not really. its an old coal town but they welcome the atvs for the revinue. no special previsions for the atvs if that is what you mean.

no. i dont ride the hatfield systems. there is one place that we occasionally go that will use a couple hundred feet of their system since they migrated over further.

double rooms are ~58 a night and singles are ~48 a night.

 

Are ya'll talkin bout the place up in "Bear Town"? The old Friend farm? If so thats my late uncle's place... I didn't know there were people still goin up there...

no. we are going to Welch/McDowell Co. its the south east corner off of 52 and 16.

 

i say we, so far i only have me, my dad, the guy from up there, my neighbor and possibly his wife going. the people that use to go are having trouble getting things lined up to go.

 

im trying to figure outa way to get up there for this. i really want to go but not sure if i will have a ride since i dont have a license at the moment. if my buddy gets his 4 wheeler straight by then we may come up for the trip.
