VA State Law regarding lights
So I finished blacking out my Jeep and I want to verify what I herd about the law. I was told that there is no law against blacking out the tail lights/turn signals, but if you make it so you cannot see them from 500ft away, then that is illegal. I did a very light tint, just to give it a "black" flavor, not make them actually look black, but never the less, I do not wish to be pulled over.

Alright, fair enough.
For the poster who told me to read the law, can you post a link to it, I was looking around on some va government law site and could only find that passenger cars are required to have turn signals, brake lights etc, but nothing about how they look.
I got plenty of stuff I can get a ticket for on the Jeep since its murdered out, don't need another reason to get me pulled over. I've had my tail lights tinted for 6 months now, haven't been pulled over yet, but the turn signals might be pushing it. I'll wet sand em down next week.

I have had smoked rear lenses for years and had no problems. As long as the lights and rear red reflectors are not seriously impaired you should be fine. The law is 500ft, but if you make it so dark you can't tell the tails are red without them being illuminated, most likely you will get a ticket.

Dont know what exactly the law says but I got snatched for tinted tails after riding around for about a year. The ticket was written up law section: 46.2.1002 "Improper Equipment".

Ah alright, thanks for the help guys, if it's worth anything, I don't want the cool look to cause any accidents that were avoidable, so I made it a habit to drive with my lights on so that the light counteracts the tint.
