Default Like a zip tie but easy to remove?

Is there anything like a zip tie except easy to remove (and cleaner looking would be nice)? I just put a scratch in the front of my right valve cover when the knife slipped...FML.

you find zip ties hard to remove?

what are you using them for? and did you know they make some zip ties with a release button?

I find the small ones hard to remove. The ones where you can't get a flathead in there so you end up using the tip of a knife, then when I invariably give up and try to cut the damn thing because the knife is already handy, the knife slips and I scratch the valve cover. I now want to replace all the micro zip-ties in my engine bay with something more mechanical (maybe some sort of tie that uses a screw like a hose-clamp does).

And no, I did not know that about the release button.

These fucking Germans man, they have zip-tie locations all over this engine bay. They want everything to be zipped up nice und neat. They went so far as to put little zip tie mounting points in a few of the zip-tie spots so you're not just tying the cables together but tying them to a bolted on mount point.

If you include the ties that I'm currently missing because I cut them, I'd say my car has about 10-15 zip ties in the engine bay. IIRC, there's even a proprietary one that has a plug on the back of it that plugs into a hole in the engine bay.

A man who is working on his car at night by the light of a 3AA led mini-maglite and doesn't want to walk across the parking lot and up 3 flights of stairs back to his apartment to get the rest of his tools
