taking off headlight lenses???
ive herd that in order to get the lenses off of headlight you have to put them in the oven to melt the sealer that holds them together. anyone know the proper heat and/or length of time to do this? i just feel like id either be too scared to get it hot enough, or be to careless and have them end up melting haha. idk, probably a stupid question, but headlights in the oven just sketches me out a little. any guidence?
'bake' for 3mins or until they are soft enough, you'll have to move fast after taking them out cause the glue tends to cool off rather quickly..
I used to do this for tiburon community a few years back.
Usually as low as most household ovens will go is good enough, which is about 225-250 I think. You're just trying to soften the sealant, not melt it, so there isn't any need to go higher than that. You don't want to accidentally warp or distort the headlight assembly, so nice gentle low heat is fine.
A quick little trick is to clean the outside of the headlight assembly really well before doing this, because dirt that doesn't exist on the outside can't get on the inside when the headlight is disassembled. And don't touch the reflector with your bare hands; they're almost impossible to clean without leaving swirl marks so keep that reflective coating as pristine as possible.

Whats the trick to re-sealing the headlights? Can I use a heat gun to re-soften the glue/sealant? I got a crack in mine and water condensed on the inside. I just want to take it off, dry it, fix the crack and re-seal.
thanks.
thanks.
