do these batteries work worth a damn? how long do they last and how long can you leave your car off before having to jump it? i'm looking at the pc680 but i dont want to have to charge it all the time.

What do you want to use it for, a dedicated race car? If you're not going to drive the car much, you can put a battery tender on it and/or disconnect the battery.
There really isn't an answer to how long you can leave a battery connected in a car before it needs charging, because that is completely dependent on the car's electrical system, not the battery.
Also, why are you doing a total loss electrical system...? You aren't planning on having a charging system at all?

Kind of ghetto, but I run a lawnmower battery. Same size as a half size battery and has the same CCA's. I researched it for a while and bought one from Napa. Fits nicely even with intercooler piping running where the battery tray used to be. You have to modify your cables to mount to the different style terminals, but that's easy. I've had it on my car for a little less than a year and never had any problems with it.

Motorcycle batteries work well also if you're just looking for something smaller sized. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.

i just want to save weight and gain extra room in my engine bay. the car will still be driven regularly, i'm just checking to see if anyone has had problems with these batteries.

Re: Mini batteries? odyssey, hawker, etc
They generally work fine, they have all of the problems that come with sub-sized batteries though, like low storage capacity, low cranking ability, etc.
I think there are probably cheaper alternatives than the link you posted, but that's just because I squirm a little bit at spending $260 for a battery kit. I consider batteries a consumable item, and that's a lot of money for a consumable item. You may totally disagree though.
