Question about snowboarding
I just moved to Virginia (the east coast) about 3 months ago and I've never been snowboarding. I live in Fredericksburg, how far would I have to drive to go?
I'm 5'10" 140lbs. What's a good size board for me?
Thanks.

Re: Question about snowboarding
It costs me about 120-130 for a board, boots, and gloves to rent for 2 days. The prices could be different here. Im actually in the same boat as you, I just moved here and want to hit the mountains also. If you want to go alot you might as well just buy your own gear IMO.

Re: Question about snowboarding
closest to you is probably massanutten? im not sure massanutten = harrisburg
white tail, roundtop and liberty are all really small, so is massanutten, my advice is take a 3 day trip to snowshoe, plenty of long newb friendly trails there. and as far as buying your own setup, it is NIGHT AND DAY vs the rentals.
and plus when you buy your own it usually pays for itself after like 6 visits, if you dont want to spend 400$+ on a bran new model board, look for new boards but previous years models, they're usually 50% off.

Re: Question about snowboarding
. . .and for what it is worth, Don't ever, EVER think there is skiing that is comparable to the west coast/canada/Alaska on the east coast. Everything is slush/ice after abut 2pm. Getting more North, i.e.Conn/VT/ME helps, but it is still not anything like west of the Mississippi
