Default 99 Accord Randomly Shuts Off

Car is a 1999 Honda Accord ex
4cyl. Ulev
auto

Will be driving fine and will cut off out of nowhere, no stuttering or early warning. I am throwing cel's 1167 and 1166, which unless I am mistaken is both o2 sensors, right? Why would that be? I doubt this would cause the car to shut off, but not sure, and it is kinda weird both sensors went at the same time. I am thinking ignition switch, because the main relay would not cause the car to shut off while driving, right? Am I missing something? I cannot duplicate the problem and get the car to shut off myself, and don't know how I would test the ignition switch to know if it's bad! Nothing happens as far as moving the key around to make it shut off(which is how it is with a vw).
I know there is a recall on the ignition switch in these, and am going to call the dealer in the morning and see if that has been done.

Lmk if you have a theory, I am ready to get this figured out! Thanks in advance!

Mine did the same thing and i replaced the ignition switch and it fixed it. Mine would get hot around the key and steering column.

my girl had one that didi the same thing, it was the ignition. honda fixed it for free said it was covered under a recall and to watch how much shit you hang from your keys because that can cause it as well. do you have a 4 door? if so you interested in some new weather stripping and the factory chrome trim?

Sounds like its going to be just the electrical portion of the ignition switch that is going bad and that is the only thing that will need to be replaced.

Yep, it's most likely the ignition switch (electrical part) like these guys said. I've had a few of them come through the shop. You can barely touch the key back and it would shut off, even had some that wouldn't even start because of it.

Part comes in Monday, so hopefully it does the trick, because bad o2 sensors won't make a car shut off right?

No, lol. You can take them out and it wouldn't make the car shut off.

it's a bad ignition switch. it's actually should be a recall on it, cause its deemed unsafe on the road. they should replace it free of charge.
