Default Symptoms

Car starts.

Sounds normal at first.

After a minute of "warming up", develops a tapping noise.

Originially thought it was a bearing, but sound comes from near the top of the engine and a little to the back (roughly).

tapping goes from a very light tapping, to a very loud and hard tap

Recently was suggested to be a lifter, as this is what it originally sounded like a few months back.

lifters usually get quieter when they're warm. but that's probably what's wrong anyway.

how many miles are on your car? your valves could just simply need adjusted, it's part of basic maintenance on a honda. which motor is it? and if you plan on doing any sort of swap, i wouldn't worry too much about it.

oh yeah check your oil btw.
