How To Wire A Battery Killswitch DIY
as you all may or may not know, i've got a horrible drain on my battery (3.70 amps while the car is off) and after spending an entire week filled with blood, sweat, and tears (not to mention my hard-earned cash) and still ending up with a dead battery after only a few hours, i've decided to wire up a killswitch.
after reading up for a while, i think i want to run a thick wire (dunno what gauge) from the negative cable back up though the firewall, through a killswitch mounted under the dash, then back out through the firewall to the negative post on the battery.
will this work? not trying to destroy my car after all this work. would this prevent my battery from being drained everytime i leave it sitting? would this allow the battery to remain fully charged at 12 volts for an indefinite amount of time? is this safe?
and what parts do i need? what gauge wire and where and what kind of killswitch?
thanks in advance

Re: How To Wire A Battery Killswitch DIY
yes you can do this. either with a circuit breaker or a switch.
you can place the switch in the glove box to limit the amout of hot wire running around the car.
4gauge will be plenty big for this setup. no need for overkill
if you plan to do the switch it is still a good idea to run a fuse (80a) or a circuit breaker (80a) in conjunction. that way if a wire gets skinned and grounds out there wont be any fires .

I'm still not convinced that you've done very much to find the problem. You need some outside help probably.
