Default 1996 S10 project

I just completley destroyed my 1993 s10 baby. extended cab. had plans for it for the summer but second week of summer a car decided to meet me halfway around a dirt turn.
On to what matters now tho. My dad is lettin me have his 1996 s10 4x4 and i was thinking bout gettin a 4.3 to build up a lil bit to make it quick.
My questions are.
1. can i lower it a lil bit? my cousin has a set of 15x10 rims i wanna put on it to make it look mean.
2 can i push any horsepower from the lil 2.8?

i know where there is a '93 typhoon here in central VA that's been totalled (rollover in excess of 100 mph). the complete drive train is good...that'd make one hell of an s10 v8 eater....i want to say that the dude is selling it as is complete for like 2-3k.

Yes you can lower it... You can find all the components you need on Summitracing.com or Stylinconcepts.com...

As for the 2.8, its a paperweight... You can get some hp out of it and there are performance parts for it... Personally I'd save for a motor swap...

i really like the reliability of it. its what i had in my ext cab. the only thing that ended his run was that car that met my front end

Everyone that I've ever known to exist was troublesome... I'd go back to a 2.5 before I'd go 2.8... If you wanted to keep the same trans you could swap out to a 3.4 or 3.8... Theres a guy on s10forums.com that did a 3.4 swap and its turning some good numbers for what it is... I recommend joining over there if you want some decent input...
