Default Machinist.

does anyone know of a machinist that would mill my wheels down? basicall the back side of the wheel needs to be milled 15mm or so. is that something that a machine shop would do?

thanks in advance

I'll talk to my boss tomorrow, and see if he'd let me do something like that. It wouldnt be hard to do, I just need permission to do side work.

I really hope you're talking about the hub mating face and not the spokes, and that you have a lot of material to work with. 15mm is a shitload of material to remove from a wheel.

after reasearching and actually measuring the lug hole to the back of the wheel, i have maybe enough room to take off 5mm, so this thread is useless, 5mm won't help me

dependeng on what wheel you have, maybe u can use hub centric lugs instead of the tapered ones.

THIS

instead of this

you probably have bolts but u can buy yourself studs so u can have some nuts (pun intended)

For what it's worth, Cycle Specialists in Newport News is the only place on the peninsula that would even consider machining my wheels. I needed the hub bore enlarged due to it being smaller than my hub, and no place would even listen to what I needed done due to liability issues.

Would it be possible to shave 5mm from the wheel and say 10mm from the brake rotor/mounting surface? Maybe even 5mm from the wheel, 5mm from the front of the brake rotor, and 5mm from the hub?

Safest thing to do is get new wheels haha.
